Mourinho Controversy – “Jumping Like Monkeys” Remark
Galatasaray has accused Fenerbahce’s manager, José Mourinho, of making racist remarks following a 0-0 draw in the Istanbul derby. After the match, Mourinho reportedly stated that the Galatasaray bench was “jumping like monkeys” during a contentious moment. In response, Galatasaray announced plans to initiate criminal proceedings against Mourinho and to file official complaints with UEFA and FIFA. The club condemned Mourinho’s comments as “inhumane rhetoric” and highlighted a pattern of derogatory statements towards Turkish people since his tenure began in June 2024. Mourinho has not yet publicly responded to these allegations. Fenerbahce, currently second in the Super Lig standings, remains six points behind league leaders Galatasaray.
